Roosters $1.72 Odds To Take NRL Opener

March 2nd, 2014 by TJ Dilfer

It’s very nearly time for the NRL again, and the 2014 season is set to kick off with a blockbuster head-to-head between the South Sydney Rabbitohs and the Sydney Roosters. There’s so much to like about this as a first game for the 2014 season, it’s difficult to know where to start. Roosters fans will want to start with a look at the $1.72 odds they’re getting on Sportsbet right now to open their 2014 campaign with a win against fierce rivals South Sydney – they’re favourites, and their fans will be hoping they can repeat the result that heaped such heartache on the Rabbitohs at the end of last season.

And a win would mean the Roosters are up and running in a season of high expectations after their 2013 success. Certainly, they’ve got the side to repeat that success: James Maloney, Mitchell Pearce, Sonny Bill Williams, Roger Tuivasa-Sheck, Jared Waerea-Hargreaves and Sam Moa will all line up for the Roosters in 2014, and that gives them some serious strength. After a win in Round One, Roosters fans will already be looking ahead to the business end of the season…

But it would be a sweet start indeed for the Rabbitohs if they could upset the odds and take revenge for last season in this year’s opener. They’re at $2.12 to take the win, and if Andy Reynolds and his side are looking to make 2014 a success, there’s no better way of putting the scars of the last couple of campaigns behind them. One thing is for certain – whatever happens on Thursday night, we’ll be looking forward to these two meeting again in Round 26, when a win could make or break either side’s season!
