Shamoline Warrior remains firm Derby favourite

 Shamoline Warrior is still the one attracting much of the attention going into the final hours before Saturday's Victoria Derby.

Trainer Mark Kavanagh has insisted the current favourite has had the best possible build-up to the $1.5 million three-year-olds classic.

Latest horse racing betting markets at IASbet have Shamoline Warriror at odds of 3.20, with Monaco Consul second favourite and dropping at 4.80.

Quoted by Sportal.com.au, Kavanagh said: "My horse hasn't done a lot wrong. I don't know whether he's going to stay the 2500m or not but we have set him specifically for this race.

"He's on his second preparation, he's had a limited amount of starts but he's done everything right."

Rockferry remains third pick with IASbet on 5.50, while Onemorenomore is now on 9.00 and third favourite having stood on 12.00 earlier in the week.

Viking Legend is now at 13.00 while Extra Zero is on 12.00, with the rank outsider Prinsom at 251.00.

The Saturday weather forecast for the area has improved, with sunshine and a few clouds expected on race day with temperatures of a high 24 degrees to low 17.
