Melbourne Cup: Aga Khan’s Verema To Run

He’s perhaps the most influential racehorse owner in the world, and the Aga Khan will have his first runner in the Melbourne Cup this year. In a piece of news that just adds to the excitement building before the race on November 5th, it looks like Verema, a mare trained by Alain De Royer-Dupre and owned by the Aga Khan, will run.

She’s at $51.00 on Sportsbet at the moment, and there are plenty of other hopefuls positioning themselves for the big race, but Verema’s form hints at a strong say come November. She has won four of her twelve starts, including the 2800m Prix Maurice de Nieuil and the Prix Kergorlay (over 3000m), which is the race that her stablemate Americain won before his 2010 Melbourne Cup win…
