Liverpool must strengthen up at back, says Johnson
Posted on December 5th 2009 by
They have a clash against Blackburn Rovers today (Saturday), and it is this one that could prove Johnson’s theory about the defence being key to their progress.
However, the side have gone five matches undefeated, and this streak looks set to continue if they play at their current standard. Johnson, speaking to the Premier League website, said: “We have had two clean sheets on the spin now and hopefully we have got a platform to build on when we go to Blackburn.
“We know that we haven’t been picking up the results that people associated with this club expect, but there was no better place to start picking up points than at Goodison Park (against city rivals Everton) last weekend. “Now we want to get on a good run. The next game is all that we can worry about but we want to be pushing up the table and hopefully we have made a good start.”
Liverpool are fancied by bookies, currently running at 44.00 to win the league according to Betfair, and are very much part of the top four.
