Zipping could cloud betting for Sandown Classic
Posted on November 14th 2009 by
Punters' eyes are likely to be on Zipping tomorrow, regardless of whether or not they have backed the horse, as the eight-year-old goes for three Sandown Classic wins in a row.
The Lloyd Williams-owned veteran is still joint-second favourite for the 2400m race, on 5.00 and level with Danny O'Brien-trained Master O'Reilly.
Out in front as of Friday was Scenic Shot, who has remained at 3.50 with IASbet.
If Zipping is to take the hat-trick the horse will have to beat off the challenge of a high-profile stable-mate- C'est La Guerre, who is out at 21.00, up from 19.00 with the same bookmaker.
Other movers in the betting market include Raffaello, trained by Mark Kavanagh and on 9.00, up from 7.50.
Purple, on the other hand, has firmed significantly, and is now on 6.00 having once stood at 8.00.
However, punters may wonder if the force will be with Zipping on Saturday – the horse was scratched from the Mackinnon Stakes two weeks ago, when he got stuck under the barriers.
The eight-year-old emerged shaken but unharmed and many may wonder if the horse is due a better run this weekend.
