Chad Mendes is the heavy favourite to take this fight against Clay Guida, sitting at a short $1.25. But Guida is a tough fighter, and he has great fitness, so he might be worth a cheeky bet at $3.70 to work the ring well, outlast Mendes, and steal a win on points. Those are his shortest odds in the Method of Victory markets on Sportsbet: $5.70 to nick it on points, where he’s $11.90 to knock Mendes out, and a long $17.50 to force a submission.

But it will depend a little on which Clay Guida turns up. We’re already highlighted his impressive cardio, which allows him to stay busy all the way through a fight, but if he uses that mobility to stay out of harm’s way, then he might only be delaying the inevitable. If he hustles Mendes and gets in his face, it won’t just be a great fight to watch, but it might be his best chance of forcing an upset here. The bookies aren’t convinced, though, and the odds on offer suggest they think it’ll be Guida losing out, even if the fight goes the distance. Look out for a points victory either way, though, at $1.59, which might be worth a bet, and Mendes winning by KO at $3.24...
