UFC-MMA Thursday August 29th 2013: The odds and our tips

Carlos Condit v Martin Kampmann head to head odds
Fighter Odds
Carlos Condit $1.35 Bet Now
Martin Kampmann $3.01 Bet Now

Carlos Condit will get a rare thing on August 29th – a second chance. He’s at $1.35 to take that chance, and to avenge a defeat to Kampmann back in 2009. Expect to see a great fight unfold, if that last meeting is anything to go on. We’ll definitely be watching, and we might be tempted to make a bet or two, looking at the markets on offer – maybe a bet at $4.45 for it all to be over in the first...

Donald Cerrone v Rafael Dos Anjos head to head odds
Fighter Odds
Donald Cerrone $1.55 Bet Now
Rafael Dos Anjos $2.33 Bet Now

Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone is a popular fighter in the UFC, and is widely regarded as being supremely game, keeping coming forwards, and churning out the wins by submission. But Dos Anjos’ Jiu-Jitsu will make him a difficult man to overcome if this fight goes to the mat, and the bookies are giving long odds for a submission by either fighter ($9.70 for Condit and $12.50 for Dos Anjos). Maybe have a look at Dos Anjos to take it on points at $2.70...

Brian Melancon v Kelvin Gastelum head to head odds
Fighter Odds
Brian Melancon $2.85 Bet Now
Kelvin Gastelum $1.40 Bet Now

Kevin Gastelum will make his UFC debut at 170 pounds against Brian Melancon on August 29th, and we’re excited to see how he goes. Gastelum is the favourite at $1.40 to get things off to a great start, but Melancon is a serious opponent. He might be longer odds at $2.85, but he’s a new and exciting fighter in his own right, and one who laid down a real marker when he stopped Baczynski back in July. Which way do you think it will go? Place your bets now...

Brad Tavares v Bubba McDaniel head to head odds
Fighter Odds
Brad Tavares $1.22 Bet Now
Bubba McDaniel $4.00 Bet Now

There are plenty of reasons why Brad Tavares is the strong favourite here, but most of all you’d say it’s because he’s proved himself to be a seriously tough fighter in his UFC bouts to date. More than a few have gone the whole distance, and Tavares has picked up good wins by simply toughing it out and outlasting his opponents. The likelihood here is that the same tactic will see him good against McDaniels. A new and largely untested prospect, there’s some doubt as to whether McDaniels can stand up to Tavares in a sustained contest and so he’s sitting at $4.00, where Tavares is $1.22. There’s lots of talk of a TKO ending this one, but where are you betting?

Court McGee v Robert Whittaker head to head odds
Fighter Odds
Court McGee $2.24 Bet Now
Robert Whittaker $1.60 Bet Now

There could be more interest in this bout that you’d maybe expect, as two former reality TV products go at it in the Octagon. But there will be no doubting the intensity of the contest here, which Whittaker is a favourite to win, at $1.60. He’s the proud owner of a 2-0 record in the UFC, and he’ll be hoping to add McGee to his list of beaten opponents. But McGee can’t be written off that easily, and he’s a not-all-that-long $2.24 to frustrate Whittaker’s ambitions. Both these two are just starting to make their way in the UFC, and a win for either will add momentum – but which way do you think it will go?
