The big highlight of July’s UFC schedule is likely to be a title showdown between Anderson Silva and Chris Weidman - a fight that Weidman is eager for, and that he must think he’s in with a chance of winning. As you can see from the odds above, though, the bookies don’t necessarily share his confidence, leaving him at a reasonably fair $3.14...
Of course, Silva is a fighter who can end a bout in fairly short order, so it’s worth having a look at the other fights coming up in July as well. Frankie Edgar is a favourite to win his fight at $1.17, as is Cub Swanson at $1.36, and the three bouts make what is an excellent card for the 7th July. We’ll definitely be watching! Add to that a clash between Rory MacDonald (favourite at $1.40) and Jake Ellenberger, who’s at $2.80, and you’ve got a mouth-watering month of UFC action in July.
Keep an eye out in August, too, for Conor McGregor, as the young Irishman hasn’t been shy about promoting himself and his talent, and will be keen to walk the walk come his face-off against the more experienced Andy Ogle on the 8th. The Irishman’s the favourite at $1.25, but it’ll be a really interesting challenge for a rising talent, whatever the result.
